You Don’t Have to Be Rich to Get Your Finances Under Control

Notebook, coffee and simple financial planning items on a warm kitchen table

Let’s get something out of the way right now.

You don’t have to make six figures to be good with money.

You don’t have to have a huge savings account. And you certainly don’t have to have your financial life completely figured out before you start.

You just have to start.

Maybe you’re living paycheck to paycheck. Maybe you have some savings but aren’t sure if it’s enough. Maybe you have credit-card debt. Maybe your grocery bill has gotten completely out of control.

That’s what this blog is about.

We’ll talk about creating a budget without making yourself miserable, building an emergency fund, understanding credit and dealing with debt. But we’ll also talk about groceries, because telling someone to “spend less” doesn’t help much when a trip to the grocery store can cost a small fortune.

We’ll talk about building a pantry a little at a time, stretching what you already have, preparing for unexpected expenses and making smart everyday decisions.

I’m a big believer in small changes.

You don’t have to save $10,000 this month. Start with $10.

You don’t have to eliminate your debt tomorrow. Start by understanding what you owe and what you’re paying in interest.

One decision at a time. One dollar at a time. One month at a time.
